Gemma Raval, BDS – Dentist & Practice Owner – GDC No. 211640
Gemma qualified from the University of Sheffield in 2011 and then completed her Vocational training in Lancashire, where she developed a keen interest in cosmetic and minimally invasive dentistry.
She moved back to her home town, where she has been working and caring for her patients for the past 4 years, and has an excellent reputation for her calm and understanding approach.
Gemma prides herself in her patient care and providing a high quality dental services to all members of the family.
In July 2016, Gemma and her husband took the next step in their careers and purchased Tavern Street Dental Practice. They have already made some exciting developments to the practice and have added a new state of the art dental suite.
She currently has an administrative role within the practice and is looking forward to increasing the services we are able to offer our patients by expanding our team of in-house specialists.
Outside of work, she enjoys visiting the Gym, travelling and most of all spending time with her beloved Chihuahuas, Poppy and Tinkerbell.
Cheerag Raval, BDS, MJDF RCS (Eng.) – Dentist & Practice Owner – GDC No. 177452
Cheerag Qualified from the University of Manchester in 2009 and then completed his Vocational training in Wiltshire, where he developed a keen interest in Surgical Dentistry.
He then moved back to Hertfordshire where he worked as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the QE11, Lister and Luton Dunstable Hospital.
During this time Cheerag achieved his Membership with the Joint Dental Faculty at the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MJDF).
Soon after attaining his MJDF in 2011, he decided to peruse his passion of traveling, and embarked upon a 6 month working holiday to Asia and Australia.
After completing his travels Cheerag returned home to Hertfordshire, where he worked as a general dental practitioner for the past 5years.
During this time, he focused on perfecting his skills as a General dentist, and completed several training modules in Restorative dentistry at Kings College Hospital, London.
Cheerag and his wife Gemma purchased Tavern Street Dental Practice in July 2016 and are looking forward to developing the practice and providing excellent care to existing and new patients.
In his spare time, he enjoys playing golf, supporting his beloved Manchester United and looking after his wife’s adorable pet Chihuahuas.
Malgorzata Lewicka-Stachal, Lek Dent , Lublin – Dentist – GDC No. 85137
Malgorzata, known to her patients as Mal, studied in the city of Lublin, Poland and qualified in 2001. In 2005, after 4 years of working in Poland, she moved to the UK and settled in Suffolk. Mal has been caring for patients in Stowmarket for many years and is known for her kind and gentle approach with her patients.
As a general dentist, Mal has gained extensive practical experience in a wide range of dental areas including restorative dentistry, prosthodontics (dentures and crowns) and oral surgery.
She has interest in aesthetic dentistry including composite fillings and teeth whitening. She aims to provide high quality aesthetic dentistry that is both ethical and minimally invasive which improves patients smiles.
Mal enjoys keeping up to date with modern techniques by attending postgraduate courses and conferences. She completed Star Quality Tooth Whitening training by the British Dental Bleaching Society.
She completed a Masterclass in Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry and Five Module Minor Oral Surgery Course at Kings College London Dental Education Centre.
In her spare time, she enjoys playing tennis and exercises Pilates.
Mohammed Shahed, BDS, Kings College Hospital, London – Dentist – GDC No. 284457
Shahed completed his 5 year degree in Dentistry from Kings College London in 2019 having already completed a degree in Biomedical Sciences from Queen Mary University in 2013.
During the last 5 years, he has been training within Guys Hospital and Kings Hospital in London as well as within the dental academy as part of the University of Portsmouth. Currently, he is continuing with further training at Ipswich Hospital while working at Tavern Street Dental Practice.
Outside of work, he has a keen interest in travelling and playing sports such as football.
Val Sharma, B.Sc. (Hons.), BDS, FDS RCS (Eng.), MB.B.Ch., MRCS (Eng.) – Dental Implants, Oral Surgery& Facial Aesthetics – GDC No. 74665
Val qualified from the Welsh National School of Dentistry in 1998, having already gained an honours degree in Head & Neck Anatomy & Embryology from Cardiff university in 1995.
Having worked in both the hospital setting and general dental practice for 3 years, his interest in Head & Neck Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery led to him pursuing a hospital based career. His special interest in Oral Surgery and particularly Implant Dentistry was developed during several Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery posts as well as undertaking a period of research at the University of California- San Francisco.
Graduating in Medicine from Glasgow in 2001 and carrying out his surgical training at some of the most prestigious centres for surgical excellence in the country, he was awarded dual Fellowships to the Royal College of Surgeons of England picking up several awards and prizes along the way. He is also a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
He is currently engaged in Maxillofacial Surgery based at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge and practices Facial Plastic Surgery, Oral Surgery and Dental Implantology in private practice.
Val is a clinical and academic tutor as well as a mentor for trainees at all levels from medical and dental students to those coming to their consultant level examinations. He has lectured extensively as well as organised and run courses both nationally & internationally.
He remains dedicated to the alleviation of Oral & Maxillofacial deformity and pathology especially in the developing world and to this end is actively setting up a program and service to address these issues in the West Indies.
Mark Davis, BDS LDS RCS MClinDent DipImplDent, PGCertDentEd – Dental Implants, Oral Surgery, Endodontics & Prosthodontics – GDC No.59652
Mark qualified from The Royal London Hospital in 1984 and then worked in the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery department at the hospital before returning to Suffolk.
Mark has worked as a general dentist for 35 years and during that time has furthered his training with a 5 year Masters in Clinical Dentistry (Prosthodontics) at Kings College, London and a 3 year Diploma in Implant Dentistry at the Eastman (UCL), London. He has also provided fixed and removable Orthodontics in general practice and worked in an honorary clinical attachment role with a previous consultant orthodontist at Ipswich Hospital, and in a specialist practice.
He has a special interest in Prosthodontics – crowns, bridges and both metal and acrylic dentures. Mark also has a special interest in microscopic, ultrasonic and rotary Endodontics (root fillings) and microscopic surgical endodontics. He has been using a Zeiss microscope for the last 22 years. However, he loves all aspects of dentistry, is enthusiastic and likes to keep up to date with all new developments in Dentistry.
In addition, Mark has been training newly qualified dentists for 20 years as part of the Ipswich Foundation Dentist programme and regularly teaches them Prosthodontics on the Ipswich Hospital course.
Mark grew up in his beloved Suffolk and in his spare time he likes to watch football with his sons at Ipswich Town and enjoys art and all sports especially golf, rugby and skiing.
Shannon Stevenson – Dental Hygienist – GDC No. 274910
Shannon graduated from the University of the Highlands and Islands in 2016. She has been working with Tavern Street Dental Practice as a hygienist since early 2018 and prides herself on providing excellent patient care. Shannon has a keen interest in oral health and hygiene and tried to go above and beyond to help her patients improve their dental health. Shannon enjoys travelling and took a gap year to explore parts of Southeast Asia and Australia before settling down in Suffolk. When she’s not at work she enjoys going to the cinema, cycling and cooking.
Jade Hogg – Dental Hygienist – GDC No. 261058I
Jade qualified as a Dental Hygienist from the University of Essex in 2019. During my time at university I attended work experience in many dental practices across Essex, where I thoroughly enjoyed treating, helping and educating patients. Before qualifying as a hygienist I worked as a Dental nurse in Suffolk.
When I’m not working, I love to travel around the country to watch West Ham United and spend time with friends and family.
Jo Loram – Dental Hygienist – Dip Dent Hygiene Lond – GDC No. 6104
Jo qualified as a Dental Nurse in 1996, whilst working at Tavern Street. She then went on to train as a Dental Hygienist at Guy’s, Kings and St Thomas’s, qualifying 2002.
Since qualifying she has worked at various practices both locally and in London, but since having her two children she works exclusively at Tavern Street.
Away from teeth, she enjoys being a mum, and her hobbies include watching Norwich City (where she has had a season ticket for 20+ years) badminton, snowboarding and travelling.
Yasmin Ryan – Dental Therapist – GDC No. 2667557
Yasmin started working for the practice 2 years ago after graduating as a hygienist in 2016, and as a dental therapist in 2017. Yasmin enjoys treating children and works well with nervous patients. As part of her work for the practice Yasmin carries out fillings, as well as primary extractions. In her spare time she enjoys DIY and spending time with her cat.
